Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle therapy that supports circulation, reduces swelling, promotes relaxation & pre-post surgery recovery & healing

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle, therapeutic treatment designed to support the body’s natural detoxification and immune systems. It is a practice whereby the practitioner uses light rhythmic skin pumping in a predetermined direction to achieve increased flow of lymph throughout the body. This soothing technique helps remove waste products, reduce fluid retention and swelling, and encourages increased white blood cell production, promoting relaxation, recovery, and overall wellbeing.

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) was developed in the 1930s by Danish therapists Emil Vodder and Estrid Vodder. While working on the French Riviera, they observed that stimulating the lymphatic system with gentle rhythmic movements could help improve health and reduce swelling. Since then, MLD has evolved into a widely recognised therapy used to support recovery, relaxation, circulation, and immune function across both medical and holistic settings.

I have been to James a few times for a massage now, and can reliably say that I’ve left feeling a lot better every time. James has a very calming personality and was friendly and warm right from the start. He was very attentive to what my issues were and asked me about this right at the start during my consultation. He worked on my problematic areas (the usual shoulder area tightness and lower back pain) and made sure I was comfortable throughout the massage. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for both a therapeutic massage or for a relaxing massage. Thank you for your fantastic service, James!
